- Jason SuSettembre 17, 2017Amazing. Did the 20 piece omakase for 150, it came with two small appetizers, soup and dessert. Each piece is unique and delicious. Say it's a birthday and they give you free dessert and a Polaroid!
- Rachel IvyAprile 22, 2017Excellent and delicious, defiantly comparable to nakazawa with a way less stuffy feel. The sake the waitress recommended was great too! Old school jazz and intimate bar dining totally transports you.
- Jesse LaneFebbraio 16, 2018Relatively reasonably priced Omakase with unbelievably fresh and delicious fish. The intimate 12 person restaurant makes the experience feel even more special.
- Melody HanSettembre 19, 2015I've heard it called a poor man's Nakazawa which is awesome for me since I'm not baller enough to Nakazawa frequently. Kura has solid fish and entertaining service courtesy of chef. Get the omakase.
- David NarazakiOttobre 13, 2015In my humble opinion, one of the best Sushi restaurants in NYC. Ishizuka-san, owner/chef, puts his heart and soul into each offering.
- Barry HottDicembre 27, 2019Cheaper than a flight to Japan and totally worth it. Order one (or two) size smaller meal than you think you need and you can always order more after.
- Barry HottDicembre 27, 2019Tiny place tucked away from the St Marks madness. Impressive and extremely satisfying omakase. Felt like I was in Tokyo.
- Ina LiMarzo 22, 2015They don't have a menu. But 85 dollar omakasa for 13 sushi pieces is well worth the price. The place is small and hidden make sure you don't miss it. Also don't forget to make reservation!
- David DawsonOttobre 13, 2018Omakase is incredible here and not priced out of range. Very chill setting with extra nice chefs. Sushi selection is super tasty.
- We chose the $65 sushi omakase and at the end were still ready for more, so Norihiro gave us 2 more pieces- one uni and with that we said good night to one of the best sushi meals ever.
- Cynthia LinSettembre 13, 2015Love this place! Traditional but super laid back and some of the more unique offerings I've seen. Raw cherry blossom shrimp! Got the large omakase, which is really filling.
- Celena ChanSettembre 18, 2015I had the small omakase with two hot entrees-- the duck and chawanmushi (steamed egg). Everything was wonderful but it was the great service and jolly chefs that makes this place stand out!
- Caroline SchulweisAprile 11, 2015Intimate spot with delicious and fresh sushi. We did the medium size omakase and loved it (13 pieces for $105).
- Joan ParkMarzo 14, 2015$85 omakase option includes 13 pieces of sushi, 2 small appetizers, miso soup & dessert. enough to fill me up but i did covet my neighbors' stuffed squid (which we ended up ordering) and raw shrimp.
- Hien LyOttobre 16, 2016Kura is one of those places I ache to go back to the moment I leave. Simply phenomenal. Will need to sit at sushi bar next time!
- DailyCandyFebbraio 14, 2014The menu exists in the chef’s head, and you can watch him as he works. The majority of Kura’s fish is shipped straight from the motherland. Specialties include squid sashimi and giant clam.
- Preeti SLuglio 4, 2013Simple, clean food and unpretentious atmosphere. Do the omakase (Kappo and regular if you go with someone so you can try both). Really enjoyed and will be back soon.
- CatherineGennaio 6, 2015Definitely a top tier sushi omakase restaurant in new york city. Highly recommended to those who seek quality sushi.
- Christina TangMarzo 2, 2014An oasis hidden behind a wooden door. A beautiful omakase experience without too much formality. Make reservations to sit in front of the chef.
- heather doughertyAgosto 4, 2015truly awesome sushi & service - 3 omakase options, various cooked appetizers and great sake list. funny sushi chef is added bonus.
- Danika LandersGiugno 16, 2013Wonderful food made and served to you by wonderful people. Some of the best sushi I've had. And so refreshingly unpretentious. Call for seats in advance.
- DesireeAprile 14, 2015Pretty good omakase. Had to order a few extra pieces at the end. Would like to go back and sit with Chef Ishizuka (check out his business card!).
- alexandra kOttobre 11, 2014After a delightful meal here, I couldn't eat any Asian food for a week. It was too good, and I didn't want to ruin it. Get everything and come hungry
- olivier PEYREOttobre 21, 2014Adorable prix fixe sushi menu. Feel adventurous. Or mention your distaste for giant clams :)
- Diem HuynhAgosto 21, 2013Two types of omakase at 65 or 85: kappo (cooked dishes with sushi) or all sushi. I prefer the 85 sushi omakase (uni and chutoro my favvvvv).
- Edward HenryGennaio 25, 2016Amazing hidden sushi bar. The chef is awesome. I've been twice and it's been worth every penny
- Cbl CblOttobre 4, 2017Best Omakase I had so far. But the 20 piece menu plus sashimi and extras for 180 bucks was too much for me.
- miles lennonAprile 13, 2013Sit down. Shut up. Let the food come to you. Talk to the chef and soak in the atmosphere. You're in Japan.
- Did the $105 cooked + sushi tasting and gotta say, it rocked. Unlike any other omakase you'll have for the price. yum.
- Mike GrushinSettembre 4, 2017We eat at many high end sushi places and this place is NOT at the same level while the price is comparable. Service was great but omakase was very average (we chose $180,the most extensive)
- Still agree the $65 omakase is best. We've been 5 times and it's getting better and better!
- Get the 105 dollar Omakase. And if you're lucky, there might be hotaru Ika or Sakura ebi in season
- Justin KalifowitzMarzo 20, 2013There's no sign but walk past the curtain, open the door and be transported to a hidden gem. Chef Norihito will not let you down.
- Denise LSettembre 20, 2014Consistently good, traditional omakase. Save space for the mackerel and anago.
- Eze UdeGiugno 20, 2015Excellent low-key vibe and exceptional service. Order the omakase and savor the experience.
- Best sushi spot in NYC in you are willing to spend the time.
- Rachael ChongGiugno 1, 2013One of the most amazing soups ever. Tuna miso soup. I already know that I'll crave it...
