- Neilson AbeelDicembre 28, 2013The prices are kind of outrageous for ramen, they encourage you to order extra toppings and they add up. But damn if it wasn't worth it. The Karaka Men was the best bowl of ramen I've had in years.
- Although the signature ramen is awesome, my favorite two dishes are the Hirata Buns, which rival those at Momofuko, and the Yamitsuki Goma Kyuri, cucumber in an amazing sesame sauce.
- The Corcoran GroupOttobre 8, 2010Be prepared to wait as they don’t take reservations. Start with the pork buns and the peppers. Then try the Akamaru Modern with a bottle of Yebisu. Your mind will be blown.
- Tasting Table's Top Ramen NYC: Akamaru Modern "Akamaru's incredibly creamy, fatty tonkotsu broth has a secret: a scoop of deep red miso that slowly melts away"
- Jeremy KrantzSettembre 15, 2014One of NYC's cult ramen spots. Try their famous pork buns to start your meal and then get your slurp on with some amazing ramen!

- Ivana MilojevicNovembre 25, 2017Everything is phenomenal here! Food, atmosphere, interior, staff, music.. This place is indeed one of the best ramen places in NY.
- So worth the wait! Akamaru modern and Hirata buns. If you find space in your tummy... Get shishito peppers. And end with annin tofu.
- Ray LinGennaio 11, 2013The best ramen in the city, period. Pro tip: They don't take phone reservations, but if you happen to work nearby, you can make one same-day in person.
- JeffreyLuglio 20, 2014The thing to order is still the Shiromaru Hakata Classic (the house pork-bone broth style) or the Akamaru Modern (essentially a high-octane Shiromaru).
- Soapy JankelAprile 3, 2013Put your name down 1-2 hours before you want to eat, it gets super busy. All of the ramen dishes are tasty. Make sure you order pork buns as an appetiser!
- David LaPlanteNovembre 23, 2014Best Ramen in NYC we found on our trip. Might be the best period. Get the Shishito peppers!
- Christopher TaiAprile 10, 2011This place has the best ramen around in the city, but with quality brings a lot of folks. Come prepared to wait in line, but the food is worth the wait! Order the pork bone ramen with the fried chicke
- Get here before 11:30 on weekdays for a no-wait treat. Akamaru Modern with extra pork belly is my fave.
- ShinnawyMaggio 9, 2018Must try their tori-karaage, eggplant buns, and any ramen with nitamago and bakudan
- The New York TimesFebbraio 23, 2011You have to wait for a table, but then: hot ramen, porky and rich, with dumplings on the side, cold beer. One of the city’s best meals.
- Ajit VergheseGennaio 13, 2012RS says: Try the Shiromaru Hakata Classic: "pork bone broth highly emulsified, noodles slightly firmer than most and thinner, and pickled ginger is an important component of the flavor package."
- The best ramen I've ever had in NYC. Great atmosphere for a group; sit at the bar if you can. Definitely get the pork/chicken buns too.
- Ms HeleneAgosto 8, 2013Don't overlook their appetizers. Special: Shrimp and tomato salad ($10) and the Agedashi tofu and eggplant ($10) were both some of the best I've had in a Japanese place!
- Louisa AgateOttobre 27, 2013Pork buns, oxtails and classic ramen were delicious worth the wait but beware you won't want to stop eating
- JennNovembre 24, 2011Very hip, modern, Japanese atmosphere, great music and delicious Ramen noodles! Don't come here on a weekend during prime lunch/dinner hours unless you want to wait 3.5 hours for a table.
- Borys PierovNovembre 19, 2017Over-hyped a lot. Crazy wait times but food is mediocre. Least impressive Chashu Buns I ever tried. Ordered Akmaru Modern - broth was OK but not outstanding. Chashu and noodles were meh.
- Probably some of the most delicious Pork Buns. Also, the cucumber appetizer is a must. My go-to place for ramen.
- Evan StaffMarzo 3, 2016Go here so I don't have to wait any longer for a bowl at any of NYC's smaller, better ramen shops.
- Peter StrongFebbraio 22, 2015Oh the buns! Fried chick app amazing. Special eel bun was great and the standard pork bun is wonderful.
- Jenko KentLuglio 8, 2016Everything is delicious, but there aren't as many vegetable only options as some other places. If you like pork, it's amazing!
- Balraj GhaiGennaio 1, 2017Pork buns are amazing, do are the aubergine buns. Haven't had better ramen. Thinking of that broth makes my mouth water again.
- Kendal CockrelMarzo 16, 2018Some of the best ramen on the East Coast. Definitely a good bet for a tasty, warm lunch. Also try the pork buns!
- Flo FloGennaio 19, 2014Omfg...the pork buns!!! They are not at all like the Chinese pork buns. It's almost like a mini soft doughy taco/burrito shell with chunks of succulent pork! The order comes with 2 of them.
- Best ramen in NYC. Try one of their bowls with the spicy red paste. The pork buns are also amazing as an appetizer.
- There are many clones but only one ippudo in NYC for now. Get the special kasane aji ramen with extra shoyu tamago. Start with pork buns and cucumber, try the tenzan sake and remember to get kae dama
- Flavio MuffOttobre 1, 2017Lovely ramen place in East Village. Try the hot ramen and unfiltered sake.
