Since being showcased on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives, homeyseafood shack the Whale's Rib has enjoyed a renaissance as Deerfield Beach's premier spot for ultrafresh seafood & cold brews.
Went here for the first time today and took advantage of all the excellent tips. Rock shrimp, lobster bisque, whale fries, and dolphin key west sandwich are must-haves!
The seafood food is excellent. Anything coming off the Fryer menu comes with an over abundance of fries,so if ordering numerous items off that menu be prepared. Sodas also served in large portions.
The wait might be long but the seafood is worth the wait. A bit more local and less touristy than some other spots near by. Take a nice walk on the pier across the street afterwards.
The walls are littered with local fishing relics and the open kitchen full of dudes slinging sea treasure is awesome. Try the dolphin, and def get some whale fries with whale sauce.
A taste from New England every Thursday. Get the Ipswich Clams (steamed or fried) & get them will they last (don't come here Saturday, they are gone by then).
Yeah, it looks like a dive, but it all about the seafood. Try the rock shrimp if they are available. The lobster bisque and dolphin sandwich are spectacular also.
Awesome Raw bar! Ask them to mix the conch chowder with the clam chowder! So good. Stacy is an awesome bartender! Thanks to Chris and Eddie, regulars that made it so much fun!
I've been to at least 5 DDD joints & this was the first one I really didn't enjoy. Everything was so bland!! The stuffed shrimp aren't stuffed but topped with scoops of mystery mush. Steer Clear!
FOOD POISONING. I had shrimp that was horribly overcooked. GF had scallops, which too were overcooked. Aside from the food poisoning, I'll never go back because the food was just not good.
