Some of my go-to spots for coffee in SF. It's surprising to think that even with all the good coffee places in SF, there are still so many horrible ones.

Joshua Nguyen: Ok, all the hipsters like this place and the espressos aren't bad - but I can't get into it. Compared to Blue Bottle's roast, I always get a tinny, unpleasant metallic taste with Ritual.

Joshua Nguyen: A 'secret' spot in the Financial / Chinatown district. Whenever the dude with the long hair barista is there, it's great (they use Blue Bottle beans) - steer clear of of the lady or girl barista.

Joshua Nguyen: Decent enough - a hit or miss with the baristas. Good space but no outlets for work -- but who wants to work in a noisy hipster coffee shop anyways?
Joshua Nguyen: Good cappuccinos, plenty of outlets, great open space -- an awesome place to wireframe with buds or just have a chat in the sunny Mission.

Joshua Nguyen: A relative newcomer on the scene, it's making big waves with the technies in SOMA. Not bad - better than Ritual and Four Barrel and on some days as good as or better than Blue Bottle.

Joshua Nguyen: Unless you're into the bearded "I look vaguely homeless" look - why? The coffee is dark dark burnt dark & hopped up on sugar. It's a sweet sycophant drink that will get you buzz - but not much else.
