Khy LaLuglio 7, 2013The service is amazing, the staff is very warm and inviting. The French toast was crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The strawberries were so fresh and sweet.
UWS staple - it's open 24-hrs and it's NOT a diner! Good for late night dinner, they have a pared down menu after 11pm. Also, full bar and good espresso.
Love love love the French Roast! Perfect for the “I don’t know what to do for dinner tonight” thing. The food is great, the atmosphere is calming and the bar is someplace special...

Nick WestOttobre 19, 2011Ok, so this place is NOT a coffee shop. It's a restaurant with a wonderful menu. A little pricey, but worth every penny. Get a bottle of wine with dinner, the atmosphere requires it.
A staple in the neighborhood. Lots of outdoor seating in the summer for people watching. Been here many times at night, lunch time, & early morning (it's open 24h). Food is nice, sans chi-chi, bistro like. Avoid early (7am): tables are always dirty (crumbs, sticky coffee spills, ...).

The late night Mecca of the Amsterdam bars. 24 hour croque Monsieur with French onion soup is the best late night!

French Roast now has happy hour at midnight . Weird, I know but who doesn't want a deal at that time of night. It's from midnight to 4am. Specials on wine, cocktails, and beer. So stop on by!

ELuglio 9, 2017Ordered a sticky pecan bun. 15 min wait for the bun. Pastry is dry, with very little cinnamon or caramel, little of nuts. 10 minute wait for the check. Half an hour of my life I'm never getting back.
