Fun place to go when it’s hot to get into the mountains if you don’t want to exert a vertical climb with kids. We came down under the chairlift and it was pretty steep but fast.
Beautiful spot and decent cold beer. However as of June 2022 they only have pre-made deli sandwiches for food as they can’t keep a cook.
Wine is surprisingly good (rose and cab sav), and you really can’t beat the view. The food truck is really tasty but it will take twice as long to get your food as they say.

Great coffee house in the middle of nowhere. Open at 8 to grab caffeine as you hit the road.
Good Mediterranean restaurant with Spanish influences. The salmon and lamb shank are good. Fries and oysters are a good snack as well.
Nice big beach that’s great for kids. Easy large parking lot close to the beach. Bathrooms are gross.
Giant ass sandwiches that are great for picking up if going to the beach. Order online to skip the wait.
Decent BBQ with giant portions. The grits are great as a side if they have them.
Nice big Airbnb with tons of land to run around and comfortable beds. Great place to stay for hiking.
Awesome trail with incredible views over the desert- pretty easy for kids. Can be crowded at the top but totally with it. Walk a bit of the PCT for more views.
Fine easy nature trail to walk around with kids. You may even see a bald eagle soaring above you in the winter.
Nice outdoor beer garden. Pizza is ok but the salads are great and the beer tasty. The “million ways to die” ipa is darn tasty l.
A bunch of Palm oasis is various canyons. Loop trail is a bit has to find so make sure you use an app or map.
Decent food option in Big Bear that usually isn’t too busy. The pozole is fantastic!
Neat old school restaurant in a cute setting - feels like stepping back in time. The ribs are decent and huge.
Great beer and good food - salads and grilled cheese are great. Go early after a hike to relax outside

Nice Airbnb for staying in wine country. A bit out of the way but the views and wildlife are incredible.
Giant wide beach at low tide with decent tide pools on the rocks. There are sharks in the water so be weary.
