The tourists swarm in droves but the gem for New Yorkers is Manhattan Fruit Exchange, a shockingly inexpensive grocery store with fabulous, diverse produce, cheese, and most other kitchen staples.

Matt AtkinsonMarzo 14, 2014Ok, someone recommended hale and hearty... Seriously? num pang sandwich shop is excellent and Los Tacos No 1 is probably the best in NYC. Hale and hearty is decent but there are locations everywhere.
If you visit this market, go to the lobster place. They have great lobster rolls that come with chips and cole slaw. You can get this on the go and head over to the high line. Enjoy!

The best place in the city to buy vegetables and fruits. The italian market has some amazing cheeses and pasta. It's also great for lunch. You'll also find the best brownie from NY.

The meat pie place in the common food hall area is great. Also the taco place is really good. The fruit store has things like small papayas and starfruit that are hard to find outside Chinatown.
