Funky and fusion-y, chef Paul Qui’s namesake restaurant is a must-visit for foodie pilgrims. A recent tasting menu featured smoked short ribs with fish caramel, yuzu kosho, black lime, and kimchi. Leggi tutto
A must try. Fantastic food for an amazing deal. The yellowtail seared table-side (pictured) and wagyu were my favorites. The surprise congee dish was great too!
Qui captures so much of what is driving the Austin restaurant scene forward. Qui's mixture of fine dining, molecular, and Filipino influences makes for a unique dining experience. [Eater 38 Member]
One of my favorite meals in Austin. There's a vegetarian tasting menu and a regular (meat) tasting menu. Incredible flavors, not afraid of using spice, each dish is divine. Don't miss this!
Get the cabbage with fried chicken skin! Also we prefer the season fruit milk ice cream. It was so flavorful! The cheddar ice cream sandwich was too salty for us.
Cabbage is phenomenally done. Cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich is a must. Rabbit 7 ways is fun. White ale from Japan is really good if you're doing beer.
Tasting menu is unbelievable value. If they have the albacore tuna cooked over japanese white oak chips, then you're in for a treat. You must get the chedder cheese ice cream sandwich.
Ever-evolving cuisine from one of Austin's most famous chefs. But despite all that praise, Paul Qui never takes himself too seriously. Check out the pong game on the restaurant's website. Leggi tutto
Incredible customer service! Sat at the bar & Paul came up a few times to ask how everything was. Fish in a bag and beef tapa were excellent. All desserts were great, especially avocado qui lime pie!
GQ named Qui best new restaurant in America. Food & Wine named Chef Paul Qui Best New Chef. The Tepache was named the official drink of Austin. This deliciousness cannot be explained...experienced.
The cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich is a must - I wish we had these in Chicago! Everything we ordered was top notch - splurge and try one of everything.
If you are a party of one or two, try sitting at the counter overlooking the kitchen. You can see everything plus the chefs (incl Paul Qui himself) are happy to talk & answer any questions.
QUI was named 'Best New Restaurant of the Year, 2014' by GQ Magazine in February of 2014: "If Paul Qui isn't the most fearless chef in America, he's surely the most confident." Leggi tutto
The new tapasesque pre fixe seven course menu was less than ideal; portion sizes, some dishes not great, a la carte options would be nice, although from the industry standpoint (focus on dishes) I see
Get there early - the line starts behind the building, not easily seen from 6th street. Trust the staff. And yes, the ice cream sandwich is a great finish.
