A renovation is in progress. Built in the 1950's was considered art. Now Jersey buses and an occasional jaunt upstate. Less crowded than it's downtown cousin & not nearly as accessible. Tired stores.
Take the jitney busses on the lower level for locations like Fort Lee Cliffside park, North Bergen, Paterson etc. just make sure you get on the correct one so you don't get taken the wrong way.
the local bronx and manhattan mta busses stop outside all around the station. southside is the end of the bus lines. eastside and northside are where you wait for them when they get going again.
Lots of buses of if you want to get off at fort lee. Nice waiting area as well with a cleanbathroom. A new grocery store opened up recently in he terminal as well.
Take NJT instead because if is much safer. My only concern about the jitneybuses is the condition and the waiting period at BridgePlaza before entering the heights.
No one here on weekends to direct you or sell you tickets for bus. Bring cash. Poor information on platform location for bus routes posted so plan extra travel time to figure it out on your own.
If you're going to new jersey from here prepare for worse. Renovation doesn't look like they will finish until 2016. Buying tickets other than nj transit is a pain. Cash only for coach usa.
