The TWA Moonliner seen on the SW corner of the roof is actually a replica of a replica. The original replica that once stood there is now at the National Airline History Museum at downtown airport.
Yup, that's a real plane on the roof. It's a Piper Tomahawk dubbed "The Spirit of Lee's Summit." Owners Joe and Vince are avid pilots so you'll notice an aviation theme throughout the store.
Congrats, you made it to the two gates absolute farthest from the checkpoint. Now, sit back (if you can find a seat) catch your breath 'n pray to whatever god ya believe in there isn't a gate change!
Great spot for observing traffic on 35L. Spent hours here with no confrontation. Plenty of police, security and ops folks drove by, no issue. Now that's refreshing!
Great place for watching airplanes come in for landing at SAT when there's a wind from the south.
MUST SEE the Concorde and the shuttle trainer. Unlike the various shuttles around the country, you can go inside the trainer!
A well kept secret, the observation deck is free and on the top (18th) floor. Head up there to see unobstructed views in all directions.
