Good Eats: SF Edition

Elaine Courtney: Fresh fish flown in daily from Tsukiji market, Japan. I had the best hotate IN MY LIFE here—it just got in from Hokkaido and wasn't refrozen yet! Get the tasting menu—you will not be disappointed.

Elaine Courtney: Oysters - fresh. Clam chowder - rich and creamy. Grilled cheese sandwich - ON POINT. My love for this place - understatement.

Elaine Courtney: Always filet mignon + foie gras for me, but since they stopped serving the latter, it's been a tad less impressive. Steak itself is still great! Rabbit (when available) = melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Elaine Courtney: A Spoonful of Happiness is the best "one bite" appetizer you can get from a Japanese restaurant. You'll want a lot more spoonfuls of it.

Elaine Courtney: The Rebel Within is a must-try - may be a tad on the oilier side but definitely scrumptious. It sells out fast, so go early if you want yours piping hot and fresh.

Elaine Courtney: Delectable ramen and an extremely convenient joint if you're already zipping around in the city. <3 the salt based pork broth option and their mixed fish salad is great value.

Elaine Courtney: Healthy eats in a beautiful setting at the Yerba Buena gardens makes this place a spot I visit again and again. I love the English, Russian and Moorish tea services. Their salmon quiche is fantastic.

Elaine Courtney: Most authentic Thai restaurant in the bay. You can tell by their Tom Yum soup, a 5 is pretty spicy and I'm a homegrown Asian. Great prices for great food.

Elaine Courtney: Best robata in SF. Ramen is okay--the Beatles-themed restaurant makes up for it and really adds a chill vibe to the whole dining experience. They also have yuzu shu! :)

Elaine Courtney: Pretty decent Singaporean/Asian food. Definitely get chicken satay, chow kuay teo and chicken rice--it's as authentic and lip-smacking good as it gets in SF.

Elaine Courtney: Whimsical little place for tea. Only gripe is it's inside a building primarily used for something completely unrelated to food/tea/anything Brit.

Elaine Courtney: Be a regular and you'd get free sushi or a free beer. Freshest, tastiest cuts of meat and the Wagyu beef sashimi is bomb.

Elaine Courtney: Wood-fired pizza. 3 generations under one roof. Juicy pizzas that will bring joy to your tummy. Definitely also get the caprese to start with, best mozzarella ever.

Elaine Courtney: Best macarons in the West Coast! Celebrity chef and macaron extraordinaire Christophe Michalak got the 2005 Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie. And they ship overnight!

Elaine Courtney: The Omakase would not let you down, and the cozy atmosphere makes you feel like a VIP. Definitely worth every penny but reserve ahead of time.

Elaine Courtney: Beautiful view of Union Square and the throngs of people that move around day in and day out. It's steep for what it offers, but the atmosphere is excellent. Go for afternoon tea.

Elaine Courtney: Well-prepared filet mignon in a good-sized portion. Great atmosphere.

Elaine Courtney: Get their pineapple buns when it's fresh out of the oven, it's crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside... Heaven.

Elaine Courtney: Authentic Korean BBQ... You come out smelling like a rack of ribs but it's absolutely worth it! Go early or be prepared to line up outside their doors.

Elaine Courtney: While it's mostly known for the cream puffs, the fondant au chocolate is a stellar hidden gem! Have them warm it up before eating... it's heaven in your mouth when the warm chocolate sauce oozes out!

Elaine Courtney: Expect good food. Ramen is a crowd favorite! Be prepared to wait.

Elaine Courtney: A place where I go for Italian comfort food after shopping in the city. ♥ the kooky old-school posters that decorate the place.

Elaine Courtney: This place changed my impression of organic, brown rice sushi FOR THE BETTER. And you have to at least get one item from their interesting special menu. A great hole-in-the-wall-foodgasmic experience.

Elaine Courtney: Best bakery ever! If there's one thing you get, it's their croissant - sooo fluffy and crisp! And those chocolate-based cakes - simply beyond scrumptious. Do yourself a favor and eat something here.

Elaine Courtney: Waiting is typical here. We loved the Salsiccia, and Prosciutto Pie. Save some room for the bomb-ass Meatballs in Sugo as well.

Elaine Courtney: One word: omakase. Your life will be different after that.

Elaine Courtney: They may have stores all over California but their clam chowder and sourdough are superb. Also surprisingly good is the Calif. Veggie sandwich, you have to try it especially if you're NOT vegetarian!

Elaine Courtney: Prix Fixe menu was great the last 2 times we've been; manila clams were highly memorable. Extensive wine selection - nurse your glass at the back porch where they have an outdoor fireplace.

Eater: We've never not seen a line at this place. Burma Superstar's signature tea-leaf salad and samusa soup continue to be satisfying tastes of an underrated cuisine. [Eater 38 Member] Leggi tutto.

Elaine Courtney: Portions are a tad on the smaller side, be prepared to order more! Rotisserie chicken is an obvious choice - get dark meat, you won't regret it. Ceviche was surprisingly pleasant.

Elaine Courtney: Exquisite macarons, they offer stiff competition to 'lette's (previously Paulette). Lovely baked goodness all-around!
