Penn Hills VFD Station 222

Currently, (as of January 2012) the RVFD consists of 31 ACTIVE firefighters. In 2011 our 100% volunteer department answered 561 calls , our busiest year ever, and with 911 dispatch, the calls continue to rise. So, we are counting on our guys to respond more than ever, counting on their families to understand more than ever. Also in late 2010 Station 222 along with Stations 221, 224 and 226 bega...n to provide a new service known as QRS ( Quick Response Service) Theses QRS services provide initial medical care to the sick and injured prior to EMS arrival and often assist the ambulance crew in care and loading. Station 222 is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) as QRS and also the personnel responding to these calls are trained and certified by the PA DOH as Medical First Responder, EMT and Paramedics. The QRS respond all Medical calls when Penn Hills EMS is not immediately available due to high call volume an Out of Town Ambulance is responding.
